How to create fresh spring designs to entice your dream clients

As we transition into the warmer (& my fave) months here in the UK, I’ve been digging through my archive to share some spring art on my studio Instagram. I thought it might be useful to share some of my top tips for helping you to create spring designs to attract new clients, since this is such an abundant season to create artwork for:

Holidays & events in your local areas, country & internationally.

Expand your research & design inspirations – there are so many celebrations around the world during spring to discover:

Cherry Blossom Festival | Cimburijada | Easter | Floriade | Holi | Las Fallas | Mother’s Day | Nowruz | Passover | Sechseläuten | Songkran Water Festival | Spring Equinox | Spring Solstice | Tulip Festival

Just ensure to always do your research & be conscientious & respectful.

Think about what the spring season truly means to you.

One of my favourite things to tell my students is to “always inject you into everything you do”. Nobody can do it quite like you, especially when you make it personal. Think about what spring evokes in you. Explore all of the senses & emotions this season brings up in you & consider ways you can incorporate this into your work. Is there a plant or flower in your area that only arrives this season? Does your town throw an event every spring? Do you have your own spring traditions?

Notice the seasonal changes around you during spring.

Here in the UK it can often feel like we can have all four seasons in one day! Maybe it’s not like that where you are in the world, but your environment will change in minor or major ways. I love to track the growth of a flower from bud to bloom to wilting away, & capture it at each stage. This helps create such a unique piece of art. Is there a local park, forest or lake that you could track these changes? What’s happening in your garden at this time of year? What changes do the homes around you make?
